Two Weeks
Can you believe it? ‘Cause I sure can’t. My baby is 2 weeks old today. I never even thought I’d get pregnant, let along make it to the point of actually having a real, live, healthy baby all to myself.
So he had his first physical yesterday – doctor says his jaundice is all gone and he doesn’t have downs syndrome, or spina bifida [sp?] (two things they check for at the first visit). And then he got weighed. Here’s his progression so far:
Birth: 6lbs 15oz
Leaving Hospital (2 days later): 6lbs 6oz
Yesterday (11 days being home): 7lbs 9oz
BIG BOY! YAY!
He had his hearing test this morning (I have sever hearing loss, so he had to be tested), and although he has “adequate hearing for speech and development” his right ear scored twice as high as his left ear. Which is interesting…because my right ear is better than my left also. He has to be tested again when he’s 3 years old….unless I suspect and issue before then.
I have a lactation consultant coming over today to talk to me about pumping and also to see if we can get my little guy to stop refusing to breastfeed. Oh… and I’m going to mention the PINK milk I pumped this afternoon. hmmm…. I see no bleeding. So it’s a little weird. Ah well.

Have you eaten anything with a high concentration of red dye? Chinese chicken balls? Anything like that???
WOW!! He’s growing so well!
One of my friends called the first 3 months with a newborn “The Grey Haze”. So true.
And what the heck are Chinese Chicken Balls? Am I missing out on something yummy?
