GUESS WHAT!!??
2008 June 2
Well I know I mentioned before that where I live we aren’t “allowed” to be told the sex of the baby …. but I learned today that I can take my U/S referral to ANY ultrasound place in the Province…. so when DH and I go to Vancouver to pick up DSD for Summer Vacation… I’m getting my BIG ULTRASOUND!!!
It’s on July 4th @ 10:30am …. WOOOOOT! I’ll be 19 weeks
(me? excited? nah…..)

Hi Erin!
Wow! What is the purpose of that, not being able to be told to sex of your baby? I mean, here, we’re told, “I can’t be 100% certain, but it looks like a girl/boy” … but that’s the BIG excitement of going to the 16th week “sono” …
You see, the “techs” performing the ultrasound can’t say anything to us mothers about the health, sex, or otherwise because they’re NOT doctors, and we understand that. Because of potential errors on the “techs” part, they can’t inform us of anything until the doctor sees it, and evaluates it. (They don’t want undue stress on us because someone made an unjust mistake, if that makes sense).
I hope you get to know the sex, if that’s what you want. Some people don’t. WE DID, and I’m glad because we got to set up the nursery just so. It was perfect, too! … LOL … If you find out the sex, are you going to share it with us? I hope so ’cause I’m dying to know! Erin, I can see you with a little girl. At any rate, good luck to you!
Peace,
Brooke (sorry so long!)
That’s awesome!
By the way, in regards to the post above me, I guess we’re different because our techs have been the ones to tell us the gender. The doctors have never even mentioned the gender.
Good luck!
Julie – it’s the same here… techs pretty much tell you everything… doctors just say “Oh, looks like baby is doing good.” LOL
I thought that was so strange that they aren’t “allowed” to tell you! I would go nuts without knowing! Our techs here tell us everything, unless of course, a major issue…but gender? I’d probably hurt them if they got to know and I didn’t!
