wasn’t so bad afterall
Well.. that was painless.
My doctor is super excited for me, and said he wants to keep me under his care until I’m about 12 weeks, at which point I can talk to the 3 doctors at his office and decide who I want (or I can look into other clinics if I really want…but I doubt it..). He ordered all my prenatal blood work today as well. I was going to get it done, but there were about 10 billion people in the waiting room at the lab, so I decided to put it off until tomorrow.
That’s about it…. oh, I also made the call to schedule a dentist appointment for me… they were “away from the phone” so I left a message.
morning/pregnancy sickness + dentist = ??
…should be fun to find out! (har har… not.)

Oh, Erin. Wait until your second trimester to go to the dentist. I think the ADA recommends it.
Your gums are too sensitive to go right now, and you’ll end up with a mouth full of blood.
Cinnamon toothpaste made brushing a little better for me (but at the worst of it, I could only brush for about 10-15 seconds before puking).
glad it was not painful at all.
Yuck the dentist..
Kriss, actually it’s recommended that you go early in pregnancy – and start out with a “fresh” mouth.
“Having your teeth professionally cleaned early in your pregnancy may help prevent most gum problems, too. ”
“Unfortunately, most women don’t visit their dentist during pregnancy, even if they have dental problems. Remember– taking care of yourself is the best way to ensure the health of your child, so do what’s best for both of you and maintain your regular dental care.”

I’m glad your doctor issues are settled for at least a few weeks. That it’s your regular doctor has got to be a relief.
KUP on your tests!
Followed your comment link back to you site. Congratulations on your pregnancy. My late husband and I went the ttc rounds for about a two years before going IVF. 2nd one produced my now almost six year old little girl.
I went tot he dentist going into the end of the 2nd tri, I think. Can’t quite remember now. The morning sickness was too awful in the beginning to attempt that.
Congrats again!
No matter when you go…your gums are gonna bleed. Just be sure to shout “I’m PREGNANT!”, so that no x-rays are done. LOL
I have been reading a lot of your blog and your history. I am so happy for you!
I went to the dentist in my second trimester but that was mostly because I had a hard enough time brushing my teeth without throwing up. my gums bled every time I brushed and all I did was dry heave for the whole 20 seconds of brushing I could manage. I found fruity childrens tooth paste helped tho, or maybe it was just an excuse to use the fruity tasty stuff*g*.
