a little shopping always helps…

2007 December 8

I just got back from Wal-Mart… I got two 3/4 sleeve shirts (one blue striped and one pink striped), a pair of jeans (with stretch) – a size smaller than usual (because I’ve lost more than 10lbs….) and they’re even petite so they’re the right length! YAY!  I realize that they won’t fit much longer, but today they rock. LOL  I also got a zip-up hoodie … in men’s, because my boobs are too big for womens….  I really wish more clothing lines would cater to the plus-sized woman…especially during pregnancy.

I tried on a pair of maternity jeans.  Most comfortable things I’ve ever worn.  Minus the fact that my big thighs barely squeezed in to them… I need one size bigger….which Wal-Mart does not carry.  So this afternoon I will search the world wide web for some….

any suggestions?  (and I would prefer they not be $70…. I’m not that crazy)

wow. the baby just sent a clear signal that I need to eat…. or maybe it was just my stomach growling.  who knows? ;)

Hey E – Stacy here. I have a pair of jeans from Target … I was about a size 10 when I got preg, but I bought the jeans after I gained more weight than I should have and I bought them in a 12. They fit up until about the beginning of 8 months when I guess my thighs and butt got too big. I could still wear them now, but I can’t stand anything tight on my belly, just pushes more on my bladder. But, Target jeans are really nice, FYI.

I also suggest not buying too much at one time, you never know where your shape will change and how … so buy a little as you grow and the seasons change.

I’m so thrilled for you. Your tests are pretty cool. Isn’t it absolutely fantastic getting those double lines??

Oh, and for the past two months, I have been wearing nothing but sweat pants and Old Navy maternity Yoga pants. They are heaven!!!

Final suggestion: don’t put maternity clothes in the dryer … the little bit of shrinkage will come back to kick you in the ass at some point. In a few months you’ll need every inch of stretch and soft fabric.

Oh, and I’m still pregnant! 38 weeks tomorrow. Woo friggin’ Hoo …. when will this kid come out?

    Hi Erin,

I just wanted to leave you a “quick” note. Pregnant people are ALWAYS hungry…So, get used to that. Every woman that I’m friends with, or just talk to, always talk about the hunger, and the fatigue.

Well, when I was “with child”, and I’ve told you about me being a hypochondriac, I was SO HUNGRY THAT I GOT UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT TO EAT, AND THE TIREDNESS WAS TOO MUCH! So, of course, I just KNEW there was something wrong with me. I mean, I know that old saying “you’re eating for two now”, but, hey, does that mean you have the hunger of two people mixed together? The answer is YES! Absolutely…just to let you know this, and, no, there was nothing wrong with me. It’s very, very normal…

Thinking of you…, and eat the best you can…

Okay, maternity clothes when you live in a dinky town in the middle of nowhere suck, so here is how I survived 2 pregancy’s.
E-BAY! you can get Old navy, and Gap, and all that fun stuff all on E-bay it rocks!
Thyme Maternity. you can look online and its not drasticly cheep but I have a contact in kamloops and in calgary who can buy at sale times, and the clothing is incredible. i kept wearing mine when i wasnt pegnant its so comfy.
In PG there is a super expensive place i dont remember the name off, but both Wal mart and Zellers have a bigger selection then there is in town.
Also since you will be hitting the huge stage in Summer, Monkey forest Wraps! they will fit you no matter how big you get, they are the comfyest thing ever and they are pretty to hang on a wall if you dont want to wear them.
And i totaly agree with Stacy’s coment there, Do not buy to much at once… you never know how your body will react to pregnancy and where you will gain or lose weight.
My final tip… splurge and get yourself at least one pair of super nice super comfy pants and top, no matter the price. the money will pay off every time you wear it, and it will not only make you look great but will dramaticly effect your mood! there will be days when you definitly need to not feel like your the size of a cow. or you at least want to be a pretty cow!

    Julie: thanks for the links!

Stacy: thanks for the advice about maternity cloths + dryer — I would have shrunk the crap out of them!!

Brooke: I already get up in the middle of the night to eat… night is the only time I can actually eat.

serephenie: I’ve looked on eBay – not much on there for me. But then again, you and I are MUCH different sizes. But that’s okay. I love you anyways ;) I’m definitely going to take you advice about splurging on a nice pant/top — thankfully Ken’s new job will allow me to do it too! haha… a pretty cow. Yup, that’s what it will be like.
